Maria Spengler-Markovic is a violinist whose career spans solo performances, chamber music, orchestral leadership and pedagogy. A graduate of the Faculty of Music in Belgrade and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, she has appeared as a soloist with orchestras across Europe, performing works from Bach to contemporary music.

She was concertmaster of the St. George Strings Belgrade for nearly two decades, and has guest-led ensembles such as the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra, Australian Chamber Orchestra, Aurora Orchestra, Slovenian Radio Symphony Orchestra, and the Belgrade Philharmonic. Her discography includes recordings for Channel Classics, Hyperion, Chandos, WDR, BBC, and PGP RTS. Since 2004, she has been Professor of Violin at the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Music, while regularly giving masterclasses and serving on juries at international violin competitions.
